In anannouncementposted on Monday, the royal court said, “It is with great joy that we announce the birth of our son. The prince was born on 7th January 2024 at the Maternité Grande-Duchesse Charlotte. The newborn Prince will be named Balthasar Felix Karl. He weighs 3,220 kg and measures 50 cm.”

Prince Balthasar won’t be the only new addition to Luxembourg’s royal family. Last month, they announced thatPrincess Alexandraand her husband, Nicolas Bagory, areexpecting their first childthis spring.

The couplemarried in April 2023in Luxembourg. Areligious ceremonyoccurred a week later in Bormes-les-Mimosas, France.
“The Grand Duke, the Grand Duchess as well as the members of the two families are united in great happiness,” the court announced.
The new additions will join the line of succession with their cousins.Princes Charles, 3, andPrince Francois, 8 months, are the second and third in the order of succession to the throne (they’re the two sons of the Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Princess Stéphanie). Prince Gabriel, 17, and Prince Noah, 16, are the two sons of Prince Louis and his ex-wife Tessy Antony, along with Prince Felix and Princess Claire’s now-three children.
