Moana is all grown up and on another adventure inMoana 2.
Disney has shared a new glimpse at the anticipated sequel to the 2016 animated movie musical to get fans even more excited.
Joining returning composers Opetaia Foa’i and Mark Mancina to create the original songs ofMoana 2are newcomers Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, creators ofThe Unofficial Bridgerton Musical.Lin-Manuel Miranda, who contributed songwriting to the first installment, is not expected to return.

The Walt Disney Companysharedthe new image in a post that includes a synopsis for the sequel, calling it an “all-new epic animated musical.”
“Moanaremains an incredibly popular franchise, and we can’t wait to give you more of Moana and Maui whenMoana 2comes to theaters this November," said Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger in asurprise announcementFeb. 7 that included a brief sneak peek teasing footage from the film.
In addition, Disney has anotherMoanaproject in the works; the company previously announced plans fora live-action remake of the original, to be released in 2025. That Thomas Kail-directed movie will include Johnson as Maui, while a yet-to-be-announcednew actresswill take on the part of Moana. Cravalho is among the film’sexecutive producers.
In a statement at the time, Cravalho said the princess-chieftess “has had such a profound impact on how we think of Disney princesses. Moana’s strength and perseverance are inspiring — to audiences around the world, to me and to everyone who helped bring her to life. I’m looking forward to sharing her story in a whole new way."
Further cast announcements for bothMoana 2and the live-actionMoanaare still forthcoming. Voicing characters in the 2016 original were Rachel House, Temuera Morrison, Jemaine Clement,Nicole Scherzingerand Alan Tudyk.
Moana 2will be in theaters Nov. 27.
