It ’s a little moment surprising that humans took so dang long to invent the sandwich . We ’d had breadstuff , pith , and high mallow for eons , but it was n’t until 1762 , when the degenerate risk taker John Montague , the Fourth Earl of Sandwich , decided that he desire to have a hand-held dinner ( so that he could adventure with the other hand , as it goes ) , that the sandwich was invented . Like , I genuinely feel bad for everyone who lived before then .
