In a latterly releasedfeaturettefor HBO Max’sGame of Thrones : House of the Dragon , showrunners Ryan J. Condal and Miguel Sapochnik along with book series creatorGeorge R.R. Martindove behind the scene into what some of the prequel serial is all about .
Based on Martin ’s Fire & Blood series , which tells the story of House Targaryen 200 years before the event of Game of Thrones , the new show has a trove of traditional knowledge to dig into under the author ’s guidance . “ I ’m excited , its always a short apprehensive when you reverse your baby over to foster parents but I ’m postulate in this , ” Martin shared while hyping up the new team , “ It ’s great to have Ryan , who ’s a swell writer , and someone who really knew my world . He ’s going to do his good to stay close to it . I know Miguel Sapochnik was an awe-inspiring theater director . He ’d won an Emmy and done some of our best episodes . There ’s always a little suspense to ‘ How honorable is it going to be ? ’ but I cogitate I ’m in secure hand with Ryan and Miguel . ”
Ryan J. Condal , who also serves as the writer and executive manufacturer , explained what made him so frantic to take the reins on a Westeros we have n’t seen before . “ George and his writing was a huge influence on me . It ’s an incredible belief to achieve my dream job . You get that big call which is the thing hat every author is trust for , telling you ‘ We ’re going to go make this affair . ’ And you ’re glad for a few seconds … and then you realize the responsibility that ’s on your shoulders . ”

Executive manufacturer and film director Miguel Sapochnik elaborated , “ The idea of belong back to Westeros was almost too much of a challenge . You have to start by respect it , you ca n’t start by doing unlike for dissimilar ’s saki … realise what worked in Thrones and what did n’t . What do we want to better ? How do we want to evolve ? ”
