Do you see it ? There ’s a minuscule beacon of lightin the photograph of Mars above . It ’s on the left side of the picture and it ’s somewhat darn bright . What could it be ? More significantly , what do we want it to be ? A Martian signal hold track of the Curiosity rover ? An foreign optical maser beam ? A Florida key to a secret portal in the creation ? A superhero ?
Anything in our imagination is way substantially thanNASA ’s explanation of the Christ Within : which they ’re saying “ might be due to the sun glinting off a rock or cosmic rays striking the camera ’s demodulator ” . Lame .
Here ’s whatJustin Maki of NASA ’s Jet Propulsion Laboratoryand leader of the squad that built and operates the Navigation Camera says :

“ In the thousands of images we ’ve received from Curiosity , we see ones with hopeful spot nearly every week … These can be triggered by cosmic - shaft of light hits or sun glisten from rock music airfoil , as the most likely explanations . ”
get on NASA , do n’t minimize the lights ! At least entertain the thought that Curiosity has stumbled across some hidden Mars base . possibly ! NASA says :
The bright spots appear in images from the correct - heart camera of the stereo Navcam , but not in image taken within one sec of those by the left - center camera . Maki said , “ Normally we can quickly identify the likely source of a bright pip in an image base on whether or not it occurs in both images of a stereo yoke . In this pillowcase , it ’s not as aboveboard because of a blocked view from the 2nd television camera on the first day . ”

So you ’re telling me there ’s a hazard …
