As we near class ’s closing , I ’m re - posting a few intemperately - notice - upon posts from earlier in the year . Here ’s one of my front-runner !

I ’ve been gently obsess with the novel ofNevil Shutefor the preceding three age , and have finally discharge my collection of his books –25 volumesin all , include an autobiography . I still have two books allow to record , and they ’re lined up at the end of my Shute Shelf . The unread account book are both previous edition from the 50 ’s , and have that pleasant library / grandma ’s attic smell to them .

This is not the first clip I ’ve read every Good Book by a give author – I had aMichael Crichtonphase in high school day , followed by anArthur C. Clarkephase ( I did n’t readeverything , but close ) . Prior to high shoal , I ’m pretty sure I translate everythingCynthia Voigtever wrote . After college I discovered and devouredNeal Stephenson ’s work ( including theStephen Burybooks ) .

Anyway , it read me years to cut through down all the Nevil Shute volumes , and I feel a sure completist atonement in seeing them all together on a shelf . When I finish the last one , I ’m consider fit back and read them over , chronologically ( I learn you get fillip nerd points for doing that ) . Shute ’s books are pretty similar in their details : there ’s by and large some sort of challenge that necessitates a long journey , a lot of technical fabric concerning airplanes and gravy boat , and some sort of wartime romance . Despite this similarity of theme ( or perhaps because of it ) , I still revel each volume , and reading so much by a single author has teach me something about writing – I can see him experiment with technique , and I can see his style evolve over meter . I ’m even considering live to a meetup patronize by theNevil Shute Norway Foundation– thus solidifying my condition as a superfan .

Anyway , all this got me think : which authors have inspired you to read all their work ? And yeah , I supposeJ.K. Rowlingcounts .
