It ’s been a elusive few weeks for Google . Several companieshave pulled their ads from its connection after various news electric receptacle unveil that those ads have appeared on extremist , racist , or otherwise offensive videos . But never reverence . A Google executive director says the problem is , really , little . And not just very belittled , in fact . Not even very , very small . But very , very , very humble .
In a newinterviewwith Recode , Google ’s principal stage business officer , Philip Schindler , downplayed the serious-mindedness of the problem :
“ It has always been a small problem , ” with “ very very very little numbers ” of ads running against videos that are n’t “ brand- safe , ” says Google ’s chief business officer , Philipp Schindler . “ And over the last few week , someone has decided to put a chip more of a spotlight on the trouble . ”

Schindler specifically take the “ mistake rates”—as in the numeral of ads appear on offensive videos—“are petite , tiny . ” A Google spokesperson later told Recode : “ When we speak with many of our top brand advertiser , it was clear that the television they had flagged received less than 1/1000th of a pct of the advertisers ’ entire impressions . ”
But those videos , even if they were 0.001 percent of advertizer ’ impressions , cause vast problems for Google — and threatened its monumental revenue current . Several retail store , include the UKTimesand theWall Street Journal , publish evidence of advertizement appearing on anti-Semite , anti - Semite , and radical TV over the past few calendar week , which led to several Brobdingnagian companies get out their ads , including AT&T and Walmart . This does n’t exactly seem like a “ small-scale job , ” and that much is clear from Google ’s response — itannouncedchanges to its insurance policy to take into account advertisers more control over where its ads seem , and recentlypromisedto train its AI to better detect contentedness that a blade would n’t want its ads anywhere near .
Ah , yes . The “ job ” for Google is less the overlap of Good sword and Bad video , and more the pesky fact that people keep talk about it . How annoying .
