Today we need you to chuck your Oscar vote — not for the cast - away categories like Best Foreign Language Film ( * cough Pan ’s Labyrinth cough * ) , but for the the one that matters most to technical school - loving Gizmodoites — Visual effect . While Pirates II is the deary to deliver the goods , my vote is for Superman Returns .
The visuals balance a sentience of speed ( the plane conniption ) with second of near - poetical restraint ( the tommy gun to the chest view ) . But do n’t permit me mold your voting . Because if I ’m unhappy with the results , I ’ll just blue-pencil this post like it never happen .
