But here ’s something you could do that might actually make a divergence .
When you signed up for Facebook , you agreed to Facebook ’s Terms of Service ( ToS ) . These are the convention you agree to play by so long as you utilize Facebook , menstruum . They ’re Facebook ’s regulation . Odds are you did n’t bother reading the ToS before you signed up , because Facebook was new and exciting and who ever reads that poppycock anyway ? No one does .
Half a decade or so later , we ’re still take a hop by those rule — and that means that , despite all the hoaxes float around today that might tell you otherwise , Facebook owns the painting and television you share . And you ca n’t opt out , ever , because you agreed to this :

Your Content and Information
You own all of the cognitive content and information you post on Facebook , and you could control how it is share through your privacy and software program configurations . In add-on :
For depicted object that is covered by noetic property right , like photos and video ( IP subject matter ) , you specifically give us the following license , dependent to your privacy and program place setting : you concede us a non - exclusive , transferable , sub - licensable , royalty - free , planetary permission to use any IP mental object that you post on or in connexion with Facebook ( IP License ) . This IP License end when you delete your IP depicted object or your write up unless your substance has been shared with others , and they have not deleted it .
When you delete IP subject , it is deleted in a manner similar to void the recycle bin on a computer . However , you infer that bump off content may persist in backup copies for a reasonable time period of clock time ( but will not be uncommitted to others ) .
In forgetful : if you upload a photo , Facebook is 100 % , all admit to use it ( or sell it ) until you delete that photo or cancel your account . This is n’t to say that it does any of this material — and in fact Facebook isadamant that it does not — just reserving the right to at some point in the future .
But those rules are n’t written in stone . rather of post pointless right of first publication notice , to your timeline , try something that might really get something done . Say you do n’t want the picture you take of your individual life to be potentially sell by a troupe with shareholder whose interest are n’t yours . Say you object specifically to the wording of Section 2.1 of the Facebook ToS :
The photos , videos , thoughts , and all other cerebral property I create should remain mine unless I severalize Facebook they can own it . Facebook should get rid of department 2.1 from its Terms of Service , fire its “ assignable , sub - licensable , royalty - liberal , oecumenical license to use any IP cognitive content that you station . ” unretentive of this , I should be allowed to opt - out of this accord with Facebook .
Ask your booster to wish and notice ( or even share ) if they hold .
Or better yet , broadcast it toFacebook client service .
It ’s a longshot , but at the very least you ’ll be sharing a sentiment that ’s not pure misinformation and naïveté . Sharing fake copyright BS is an annoyance . Sharing a solemn score is n’t . But remember : until anything change , Facebook will own the text of your grievance in full .
