Eastwick premiered last nighttime , and while it struggle under a lot of unecessary and zany stereotypes , the demon mankind with a voice like Cheester Cheetah tried really hard to solve all these problems with his demonic member . Spoilers in front .
To be mediocre , in these okay upstanding ladies ’ defense , no one was take in sex with the television show ’s reading of Jack Nicholson , aka Darryl Van Horne ( Paul Gross ) just yet . But he walk around moaning and groaning , naked and getting masses intoxicated off water that after an hour , I felt like I had the overall heart and soul of a sexual clash with the red-hot new man in town who stirs up sexual urge , magic and genitals - raiding ants .
So let ’s beat this dead knight of a TV show shall we ? Eastwick Starts off in the little “ quotidian form of township ” phone Eastwick , see it ’s normal …
And by normal , they intend a picturesque imitation - perfect movie town , via John Hughes and Gilmore Girls , that thinks stage the live combustion of woman accuse of witch foxiness is whole lovely . Look she made the burning pile out of felt and tube cleaners . Burn you unholy manus maiden of Satan burn … ha ha ha ha ha ha….sigh . sham persecution is fun .
But enough about crafts , get ’s get to the ladies . Here come scandalous Roxanne ( Rebecca Romijn ) . And decently away my biggest issue with this show start . The trouble with Eastwick is n’t its cuteness or pun , or even the magic — I adore all that shtik . I still own Practical Magic , part of the Charmed series and wished The Craft actually happened in gamey school day . Eastwick is very successful at being magic . But its downfall is when it flop around like three ma’am “ letting loose ” in the town fountain , gasp for air , under the “ we ’ve seen this done to last and good ” stereotypes . Each character is such a derisory caricature of a stock personality character , that you could in reality SEE it on screen . For example …

This is Roxy . Roxy is the town bicycle — see , here she is being slutty . Shame on you , Roxy . But not really — people are just signify and like to lecture . But she is hit it with Kyle XY , who is stress very open - shirty hard to be the sexy straightforward youngin . He ’s half there . I one-half expected Romijin to pull open her blouse , exposing a “ See , that ’s caustic remark ” sign underneath , when she explain that she had dropped out of trip the light fantastic school , art schooltime , culinary school , crafts school , hippy school etc . It ’s Joanna Frankel ( Lindsay Price ): she ’s shy because she ’s get into a bun , specs and buttoned-down librarian clothes . She gets chivy at work , and is in dearest with this totally normal lensman guy who is n’t a model at all … .
But Joanna is shy and nervous , and everytime she spill to Not Model Photographer she says something embarrassing , like how she named her vibrator after him . See , this is the show endeavor to be smarter than it really is : by inserting “ veridical ” conversations that women entirely have . I ca n’t narrate you how many times my friend and I get together to chitchat about naming our vibrator — mine ’s named FUCKING REALITY .
But enough about lady business , permit ’s get back to mousy Jojo . Her power is eye liaison , and impress people with her will . But seriously , she ’s really restive and wears rear and glasses , in fact there is a whole dreadful conversation with Daryll about her losing her roll , which in turn heals her and turn her into a mean garb wearing mogul lady . Over - Worked , Under - Appreciated
See the child , the husband with the beers , and always with the carrying of the 11,000 children she have . Oh and she ’s a nurse . This is Kat Rougemont ( Jaime Ray Newman ) and she has the power of mother Earth , the therapist who takes tutelage of everyone , but no one is taking precaution of her . There ’s that itchy , irritating wit again .
woefully , everyone else in the town of Eastwick stomach from this wide copse - stroke writing … see the nice mamma witch has a husband who ’s a lazy drunk , see he ’s sway around two beer — expect , two of ’em ! And he tell thing like “ stupid love apple , ” and “ What ’s gotten into you , cleaning woman ? ”
So naturally , these woman are scurvy . And they make a regard in a fountain for sex , confidence and a little lovin … which makes them all enchantress , Paul Gross the Demon appears , and causes these ants to run up this former lady ’s legs …

Unfortunately in a show about three women , Paul Gross is really the highlight of the show . In walk demon Darryl looking really good — seriously sound . I ’m totally shamed that I find out myself doing a cartoony wolf whistling when he start out mouth . But it , like this show , was a shallow second of deep pleasure .
So Darryl comes in and fixes all the ladies ’ job by hitting on them or create them sense pretty or confident or just asking if they want some sexual practice . And rationalise me Rebecca Romijn , but if someone who await like Darryl was “ I ’ll give you 50 K to do this shitty job then we have sexual activity , ” I ’d wink and say , “ Is here okay ? ” multiplication are hard , mass — it ’s a recession . So yes I was all twitterpatted by Paul ’s demon — excuse the bad joke — that is , until Roxanne made the doooooooy that penis is Brobdingnagian face , and I was right away zapped out of it . Here ’s that moment …
As time went on I substantiate that Darryl was n’t actually aphrodisiacal at all , but just using the Chester Cheetah vocalization and what I was feeling was hunger and pathos . It ai n’t easy being cheesy , guys … .

Anyways Darryl stimulate thing , up the young lady lead off wear out much more telltale clothing , and are wet a lot more , which is surely good for ratings . But it ’s not all fun and games , people — the two - dimensional husband does n’t wish the way this is go for overworked , under - appreciated witch . She gets mad , and we see them start to use their big businessman only ever so slightly for immorality .
She later zaps him with lighting , tally on stroke , and he say that he ’s split up her and take the kids because yesterday she was dancing in a spring altogether whilly nilly fancy gratuitous , and of class the courts will are so pass away to side with the unemployed lush over the nice nurse gentlewoman who buzz off wet that one time .
Then ant leg lady fire up up and ease up the right almost death tantrum ever act in a high school play ever .
I think we all know what she means by “ the cone of king ” AMIRITE Slutty ?
But it ’s okay , because Darryl was there to help everyone . Under Appreciated is getting a lawyer , Mousy is experience authority with her mind powers but maybe using it for bad — we do n’t hump just yet — and Darryl even managed to save Slutty ’s daughter from beget date - raped which was queerly extort into this episode .
All in all , I was much more concerned once they start using the magic , which was about eight minutes of the full episode at best . There was not enough magic in this episode , by far , and the attempt to make everyone a mirror double of their soul induct a sorting of gag reflex inside of me , but I ’ll keep watch over because I ’m still bright for a magical three - mode and better future thaumaturgy . And that Chester Cheetah voice .
