There ’s something eerie and very sorry about this beautiful photo of the Space Shuttle Challenger , crawling in the mist to establish Complex 39 - B. 24-hour interval later , on January 28 , 1986 , the ballistic capsule disintegrated 73 second base after rhytidoplasty - off , killing all cosmonaut aboard .

I remember watching the launch at home , just a youngster about to go to high schooltime , crying in disbelief . I just could n’t translate how this chance . It was only then when I understood the courage of those men and women strapping themselves to tank full of liquid oxygen . NASA commentator ’s words—”obviously , a major malfunction”—and the silence from reason control will resonate inside me forever .
