The Tower of London will mark the 100 - year day of remembrance of the First World War with an initiation created by ceramic creative person Paul Cummins . The Tower ’s famous ironic fosse is being slowly filled with red poppy — each representing a British or Colonial fatality during the war .
Volunteers have already begin plant the ceramic flowers for the installment , which is entitled Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red . The prescribed unveiling will take blank space on August 5 , exactly one century since the first full daytime of Britain ’s participation in the war . The final poppy will be symbolically planted on November 11 — the UK ’s twenty-four hour period of remembrance for record the end of the conflict .
The poppies will be sold , with return going to charities for veterans .
